VectoSolve Browser Extension Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026 (version 3.4.0, Chrome and Firefox)
Overview
The VectoSolve extension for Chrome and Firefox ("Extension") converts the images you choose into SVG vectors and machine-ready files (DXF, EPS, PDF), removes backgrounds and upscales images. This page explains exactly what it sends, what it keeps, and why it needs each permission.
What the Extension sends
- The images you choose to convert, and only those: an image you right-click, upload, paste, pick from the current page, capture with the screenshot button, or convert with the button shown on Canva and Google Slides. It is sent over HTTPS to vectosolve.com for processing. Retention periods and the service providers that process images are listed in our main Privacy Policy.
- The SVG you export when you ask for a DXF, EPS or PDF file, so our servers can build that file.
- Your API key with each request, so the conversion is charged to your account.
What the Extension keeps in your browser
- One API key. When you sign in, the Extension creates a dedicated API key for your account, named "Browser extension", and stores it in the browser's local extension storage on this device only (it is not synced). The sign-in session used to create it is not kept. You can revoke the key anytime in your dashboard, under API keys; signing out removes it from the browser.
- Your settings, a short list of recent conversions (file names, action, time) and your last SVG result, so you can download its machine files later. Clearing the history in the Extension deletes them.
- Your account email, shown in the settings panel.
What the Extension does NOT collect
- Browsing history or the addresses of the pages you visit
- Page content other than the images you choose to convert
- Keystrokes, form data or passwords
- Analytics or tracking data: the Extension contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code
The "From page" tab lists the images of the current tab only when you open it; that list stays in your browser until you pick an image. Conversions and exports are recorded on your VectoSolve account for billing, as on the website.
Permissions explained
- contextMenus: adds the VectoSolve actions when you right-click an image.
- activeTab and scripting: list the images of the current tab when you open "From page", capture the visible tab when you press Screenshot, and read an image that only exists inside the page when you right-click it.
- Access to all websites: download the image you right-click or pick, wherever it is hosted. Images are cross-site, so a narrower permission would break right-click conversion on most sites.
- downloads: save your SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF or PNG files.
- notifications: tell you when a right-click conversion is saved or failed.
- storage: keep the API key, settings and recent list described above.
- canva.com and docs.google.com/presentation: show a Vectorize button over images, because these editors replace the browser's right-click menu.
- Firefox only, vectosolve.com/auth/extension-callback: receive your sign-in from our website and turn it into the API key above.
Data security
- All communication with our servers uses HTTPS
