Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to separate SVG colors?

When cutting multi-color vinyl designs on a Cricut or Silhouette, each color needs to be cut from a different sheet of vinyl. Separating your SVG into individual color layers lets you cut each color independently and then layer them together.

How does the color detection work?

The tool analyzes all shape elements in your SVG, reading fill colors from direct attributes, inline styles, CSS classes, and inherited parent colors. Each unique color becomes a separate layer.

Is my SVG uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens in your browser. Your file never leaves your computer.

Can I download all layers at once?

Yes! Click "Download All Layers (ZIP)" to get a ZIP file containing each color as a separate SVG file. You can also download individual layers.

What if colors look very similar?

Designs exported from some tools may have near-identical colors (e.g., #000000 and #010101). The tool detects each unique color. You can merge similar colors in your design software before uploading.
