SVG for Bambu Lab H2D: One File for Print, Laser and Blade

The H2D is the only machine in the lineup that prints in color, engraves with a laser, and cuts with a blade. All three modes want the same thing your source image is not: clean, closed vector paths. Convert once here, use it in every mode.

Three Modes, One Rule: Vector In

Bambu Suite imports PNG, JPG, BMP, SVG, DXF and AI — but what you can DO with the file depends entirely on whether it is a bitmap or a vector.

AMS Color Printing

Bambu Studio merges the colors of an imported SVG into one part, so color prints need a 3MF. Unlock your file and the converter builds one: each color is its own part, numbered with its filament, flat regions with nothing hidden underneath.

Laser Engraving and Cutting

The H2 series is the enclosed lineup that takes Bambu's 10W and 40W laser modules. Bitmaps can be engraved, but laser CUTTING follows vector paths: a traced SVG gives the beam one clean line to follow instead of a pixel soup to interpret.

Blade Cutting

Same rule as every cutting machine: bitmaps cannot be assigned to Basic Cut at all. Vinyl, cardstock and sticker sheets need closed vector paths. A clean trace imports straight into a cut assignment — no manual retracing in Suite.

The Bambu Suite Import Traps (and How This Converter Avoids Them)

Live text renders wrong or vanishes

Bambu Suite does not resolve font references inside SVGs. Any text still stored as a text element imports broken. Files from this converter never carry text elements — letters arrive as plain closed paths, because they were traced, not typed.

The 96/72 DPI size surprise

An 80 mm square drawn in Inkscape has been measured importing at 106.7 mm — the exact 96/72 ratio. Check object dimensions in Suite after import and rescale to your target millimeters against a measurement you know. DXF of the same geometry has been reported to import at true size; if you need one, the JPG to DXF converter makes it.

Low-resolution source, ugly trace

A 200-pixel logo grabbed from a website cannot be traced cleanly by anything — the detail was never recorded. This converter enlarges small sources with AI before tracing, which is the difference between a jagged blob and a usable file.

Bambu Lab H2D File Questions

What file formats does Bambu Suite accept for the H2D laser and cutting modules?

Bambu Suite imports PNG, JPG, JPEG, BMP, SVG, DXF and AI files. The important rule: bitmap images (PNG, JPG, BMP) can only be assigned to laser process types like engraving — they cannot be assigned to Basic Cut. So for blade cutting, and for clean single-pass laser CUTTING along a path, you need a real vector file with closed paths. A traced SVG or DXF can be assigned to cutting directly.

Can the Bambu Lab H2D laser engrave and cut?

Yes — the H2 series is the enclosed lineup that supports Bambu Lab's optional laser modules (10W and 40W), unlike the open-frame A-series which is blade-and-pen only for safety reasons. With the laser module the H2D engraves bitmaps and cuts along vector paths; with the blade cutting module it cuts vinyl, cardstock and similar sheet materials.

Why does my SVG import at the wrong size in Bambu Suite?

This is the classic 96 vs 72 DPI unit mismatch: forum users measured an 80 x 80 mm square exported from Inkscape importing at 106.7 mm — exactly the 96/72 ratio. Always check object dimensions in Bambu Suite after import and rescale to the intended millimeter size. If exact dimensions are critical, DXF of the same geometry has been reported to import at true size.

Why does text disappear or render wrong when I import an SVG into Bambu Suite?

Bambu Suite does not resolve font references inside imported SVGs. Any live text must be converted to curves or outlines before export, or it renders wrong or not at all. A traced SVG sidesteps the problem entirely, because letters arrive as plain closed paths rather than text elements.

Can I use the same SVG for AMS color printing AND laser cutting on the H2D?

Yes, if the file is built for it. For laser or blade work in Bambu Suite, the closed paths of the SVG become cut lines. For AMS color printing, do not import the SVG into Bambu Studio: Studio merges all its colors into one single part. Use the 3MF from this converter instead, where each color is its own part, numbered filament 1 to N: sync your AMS before slicing. Same trace, both jobs.

How do I convert a logo or photo into an H2D-ready SVG?

Upload the image above. The AI traces it into clean closed paths with colors separated into flat regions, and very small sources are enlarged with AI before tracing so a small web logo still comes out usable.
