SVG to Embroidery — Coming Soon

We're building the first free SVG-to-embroidery converter. Currently supporting PES, DST, and JEF formats.

Expected launch: Summer 2026

How SVG-to-Embroidery Works

From vector paths to machine-ready stitches in three steps

1

Path Analysis

SVG paths, shapes, and fills are analyzed and converted into optimized stitch paths that your embroidery machine can follow.

2

Stitch Generation

The converter generates fill stitches for large areas, satin stitches for borders, and running stitches for outlines and fine detail.

3

Machine Optimization

Output is optimized for your specific machine brand with correct stitch order, jump stitches, and color stop placement.

Tips for best embroidery results

Not all SVGs are created equal for embroidery. Follow these tips to get clean, professional stitch output from your vector designs.

  • Use solid fills — avoid gradients, transparency, and blur effects
  • Keep it simple — bold shapes and thick lines embroider best
  • Convert text to paths — ensures fonts render correctly in the embroidery file

Frequently Asked Questions

What embroidery formats does VectoSolve support?
VectoSolve converts SVG files to PES (Brother and Babylock), DST (Tajima, compatible with most commercial machines), and JEF (Janome). DST is the most universal format supported by nearly all embroidery machines.
Can I convert any SVG to embroidery?
Simple, clean SVG designs with solid fills and clear outlines produce the best embroidery results. Complex SVGs with gradients, transparency, blur filters, or very thin lines may need simplification. Our converter will warn you about potential issues during the conversion process.
What's the difference between PES, DST, and JEF?
PES is Brother's native format that supports thread color data and advanced features. DST is Tajima's industry-standard format used by most commercial machines but doesn't store color info. JEF is Janome's format with color and hoop size data. Choose based on your machine brand.
Do I need special SVG preparation for embroidery?
For best results: use solid fill colors (no gradients), keep line widths above 1mm, avoid very small text, convert text to paths, and keep designs within your machine's hoop size. Simple geometric shapes and bold logos convert best.
Can I set thread colors in the conversion?
Yes. The converter maps SVG fill colors to the nearest thread colors from popular thread brand palettes (Madeira, Sulky, Isacord). You can adjust color mappings before downloading your embroidery file.
Is this embroidery converter really free?
Yes, the basic SVG-to-embroidery conversion will be free when it launches. Premium features like advanced stitch editing, custom stitch density, and batch conversion may require VectoSolve credits. Sign up for early access to be notified at launch.
